MULLED WINE

1 lemon
2/3 cup sugar
2 cup water
1 bottle (4/5 qt) Burgundy or other good dinner wine
1/2 teaspoon (tsp) allspice
1 teaspoon (tsp) whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks

Slice lemon (do not peal) and combine with sugar, water and spices. Heat to boiling and boil gently for 10 minutes. Turn heat low; add wine and heat very hot. (Do not boil). To make 1 gallon, do recipe 5 times.
