1 German chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup margarine
14 ounce (1 package) caramels
1 cup chocolate chips
2 cup pecans, chopped
Mix cake batter. Pour 1/2 of batter into greased, floured 9 inch by 13 inch pan. Make at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in a sauce pan, melt butter and caramels together. Pour butter mix on partially cooled cake. Add layered chocolate chips and chopped pecans. Pour the remaining cake batter on top of layers and bake approx. 20 minutes longer. Do not frost. You can sprinkle a few chocolate chips on top for effect only. Do NOT serve until completely and totally cool.
