Cheese and Pasta in a Pot

2 lbs ground beef
2 medium onions
1 clove garlic
1 (14 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
1/2 lb mozzarella cheese, sliced
1 (1 lb) can whole tomatoes
3 oz can sliced mushrooms
8 oz shell macaroni
1 and 1/2 pints sour cream
1/2 lb provalone cheese, sliced

Cook beef until brown. Add onions, garlic, tomatoes, mushrooms and spaghetti sauce. Mix well and simmer for 20 minutes. Cook macaroni shells, rinse in cold water and pour half the shells into a large pot (4 quarts or larger). Cover with half the meat sauce. Spread half the sour cream over the sauce. Top with slices of provolone cheese. Repeat using the remaining shells, meat sauce, and sour cream. Top with slices of mozarella cheese. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 35 ot 40 minutes. Remove lid and brown lightly.
