Creamy Cherry N' Oats Squares

1 and 1/4 cup quick oats, uncooked
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 egg
1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

Combine oats, butter and 1/4 cup sugar. Press into bottom of greased 8 inch square pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Combine cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar, mixing at medium speed with electric mixer until well blended. Blend in egg. Pour over crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until set. Pour pie filling over the cream cheese mix; continue baking for 15 minutes. chill. Top with whipped cream Makes 8 servings. It is very rich-give only small serving.
