2/3 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
1 and 1/2 cup apples, raw, chopped
1 and 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
2 cups sifted flour
Dash of salt
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt. Blend well. Sift in the dry ingredients. Add apples and nuts. Bake in 9 inch by 13 inch greased pan at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool and drizzle thin, powdered sugar frosting over top. Cut into bars.
