1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
5 cups hot water
One 14 and 1/2 oz. can diced tomatoes (undrained)
2 medium onions – diced
2 cloves garlic – minced
2 to 3 carrots – peeled and sliced
2 to 3 stalks celery – peeled and sliced
1/3 cup pearl barley
1/4 cup Ketchup
2 beef bouillon cubes
2 tsp seasoning salt
1 tsp dry basil
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste
Brown in a large pot:
1 lb. lean hamburger or ground turkey
Drain, and add remaining ingredients.
Simmer 1 and 1/2 hours until vegetables and barley are tender.
