Shortbread Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup powdered sugar
2 cups flour


Cream butter with vanilla and salt. Gradually add powdered sugar, creaming well after each addition. Gradually add flour; mix thoroughly. Shape into walnut size balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten with the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in sugar or criss-cross with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes, do not overbake. Let stand for 1 minute before removing from pan.
