1 baked 8 or 9 inch pie shell
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
1 quart fresh strawberries
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup cold water
1 tbsp lemon juice
Clean and hull berries, leave whole however very large berries can be halved.. Set aside in large bowl. Bring sugar and water to boil in small saucepan. in cup or bowl dissolve cornstarch in cold water; add to sugar-water syrup.
Cook about 10 minutes over low heat or until clear. Stir occasionally. Blend in salt, juice and enough food coloring to produce red shade.
Pour glaze over berries. Mix gently. Place in pie shell. Chill well before serving. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
